Our Lady of Grace

The above photo is a post-reconstruction picture of Our Lady of Grace. The statue was refurbished for a neighboring Church. She was discovered by the newly assigned Pastor in a storage closet, covered with a black plastic bag. And what a sight she was! Father described her to a group of Religious Sisters at a retreat and asked if they knew anyone who could repair her. Two of the attending Sisters were from my own Parish and recommended me as I recently had repaired a resin statue of the Blessed Mother whose hands had been smashed during a fall in a wind storm. Our Lady of Grace was my first plaster statue repair but I do believe I was given a special grace, for she came out beautifully! She now is no longer hidden in a closet, but graces the Church where she has not been seen for at least 20 years. Our Diocesan newspaper ran an article on the story of Our Lady of Grace. I will try to scan the article and post it as the newspaper has not archived the article.
